Frequently Asked Questions

For your convenience, we’ve listed below some of the most frequently asked questions and answers we receive regarding our services.

Q: How Often Should my Chimney be Swept?

A: Every chimney should be swept at least once a year to ensure optimum performance and safety. The ideal time to have it done is during the summer months when you’re less likely to use your fire, although we operate throughout the year. To ensure you’re up to date Scotia Chimney Specialists provide a reminder service. We’ll contact you annually (or more frequently if required) to arrange your next chimney sweep.

Q: How Much Will it Cost?

A: This depends on various factors including property size, location and the work involved. Our prices are extremely competitive and we’re fully insured.

Q: How Long Will it Take?

A: On average, we usually take between 30 - 40 minutes per chimney.

Q: Will it Make a Mess?

A: We provide a very clean and tidy service as the modern technology and methods we use means that little or no dust, or soot, escapes in to your room.

Q: Do I Have to Cover my Furniture etc?

A:  There’s no need to cover all the furniture and surfaces in your room unless you want to as we place sheets over the fireplace to protect your property. However, if soft furnishings or delicate objects are close to the fireplace, we ask that you remove them for safety reasons.

Q: What Other Services do you Provide?

A: We provide a comprehensive range of related services which you can view here.

If you have a question which is not listed above, contact Scotia Chimney Specialists and we’ll be happy to help.
